Welcome Letter!

February 16, 2012

Dear Grade 2 Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jackie Clarke, and I am honoured to be a part of your child’s classroom as Ms. Fink’s student teacher.  I am currently studying Education at Brock University (Hamilton) and will be graduating in June.  I will be in Ms. Fink’s classroom over the next three weeks, on Thursdays and Fridays, for observation dates and will officially begin teaching on Monday, March 5, for seven weeks.

I have shared a bit about myself with the students today in an introductory activity and hopefully they will share this with you.  I was born and raised here in Burlington and attended Dr. Charles Best Public School, Sir Ernest MacMillan Public School, and Lester B. Pearson High School for my education.  I have always wanted to be a teacher and because of this have been actively involved in the Halton community with children.  Some of you may know me from the Little Rocks Program at the Burlington Curling Club or from the Woodlands Children Centre as “Miss Jackie” - I have been a teacher’s assistant there for the past six summers.  As a result of my positive experiences with children, I completed my undergraduate degree at Brock University (St. Catharines) in the Concurrent Education Program with a degree in Child and Youth Studies.

I believe that communication is the key to a great family-teacher/student-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can send me a note or e-mail Ms. Fink and she will direct your e-mail to me.

I am really looking forward to a wonderful and educational few weeks with your child!

Sincerely,

Jackie Clarke
